How to Import Photoshop Custom Shapes Into 3D Studio Max 9

Published on by free3dmaxmodels

Adobe Photoshop has for many years been used by 3D artists to perform what is known as post-work on the rendered image they produce. However, it can also be used to create content and a very useful tool is the "Custom Shape" tool. This Photoshop tool comes with a number of preset shapes that can be exported to a program like 3D Studio Max 9. They can then be used as the basis for constructing models. The process for doing this is very quick and easy.

step by step.

1 ) Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu and choose "New." In the dialog, go with the default settings and click "OK."

2 ) Go to the bottom of the toolbar on the left and click on the ""Custom Shape" tool. Go to the options at the top and click
on the "Presets" drop down. From the options that appear, choose the one you want and draw the shape onto the canvas.

3 ) Select "File" from the menu and choose "Export." From the options, choose "Paths to Illustrator." Click "OK." Name the file and click "Save."

4 ) Open 3D Studio Max 9. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Import." From the options, choose "Import." In the dialog that appears, locate the file you exported from Photoshop and select it. Click "Open" and the shape will appear in the view.
